Meeting Topics

Training Funds Distribution

EMS Recertification/Continuing education Training grants
  • Up to $2,000 for every Ambulance Service
  • Up to $1,500 for every QRU
  • Up to $500 for every Rescue unit
Initial Education Grant (awarded to agencies not individuals)

This grant is to assist agencies with initial education costs for their providers. Each recipient of a grant Must agree to volunteer for an licensed agency for a minimum of six months to qualify.

  • First Responder Training will qualify for a grant of $175
  • EMT-B, I and P training will qualify for a grant of $750
Conference Registration Reduction Grant

This grant is available for all ND EMS providers, paid or volunteer, serving in a state-certified or licensed ambulance, QRU or Rescue unit. DEMST will “buy down” the expense of the registration fees to regional or statewide conferences. DEMST will pay for up to $75 for a regional conference and up to $45 per day for the state conference.

Critical Staffing Shortage Grants

This grant will be awarded to up to 10 ambualnce services that have fewer than 10 patient care providers On their rosters. DEMST will award up to $5,000 to those ambulance services to send at least 5 individuals to EMT training.

Bismarck Test Site Registration Reduction Grant

DEMST will pay up to $175 of the practical test fee for ND candidates at the Bismarck test site.

Rural Paramedic Education Grant

DEMST will fund 10 grants of $4,000 to paramedics who complete their training during the biennium. To be eligible, the paramedic must be employed full time for a licensed ambulance service based in a ND city of fewer than 30,000 people that has a hospital. The grantee will be obligated to work for that service for a period of two years.
